MAY 29, 2014 6:30PM - 8:00PM - RSVP NOW!

We at HBAS-DC are excited to host Georgetown Law Professor and Harvard Law School Alumna Sheryll Cashin on Thursday, May 29th, from 6:30-8:00pm! Sheryll Cashin has agreed to have an event exclusively for HBAS-DC and our partners. We will have a conversation about future directions for affirmative action and her book Place, Not Race: A New Vision of Opportunity in America. We will also discuss implications of the recent Supreme Court decision to uphold Michigan's ban on affirmative action.

Professor Cashin will speak about her book, her research, and her proposals to reform affirmative action, and will answer questions from attendees. See Professor Cashin on ABC This Week as George Stephanopoulos asks about her book and the recent Supreme Court ruling (the full discussion and story can be found here).

HBASNY SENIOR WEEKEND

We are looking for as much support and participation as possible! We will need members who are able to host students on their couches, help plan fun small group events, and also help with logistics of our Cocktail Hour and Cookout Party.

The Hunger Prevention Program at FHM consists of a soup kitchen and food pantry, serving approximately 700 people every Saturday morning. In an effort to restore a sense of dignity to those ordinarily relegated to food lines, each soup kitchen patron at FHM is treated as a guest and is served a seated, all-you-can-eat hot breakfast in a restaurant-style setting. Guests are also encouraged to take part in FHM's food pantry program, which supplies emergency and supplemental food in grocery bags.

To get involved with (or ask questions about) this awesome program and help make a difference in our community, please email Akilah Crichlow at acrichlow@gmail.com by Monday, May 12th.
