B.J. Merriewether

President 

 

B.J. has been on the HBASNY board for almost three years and has served as community service chair and VP. He is very passionate about building our impoverished communities, and spends time mentoring young men in the Jersey City Kappa League while intensely focusing on college preparation. He played for the Harvard Crimson Football team during his undergraduate years. He currently serves as an Alumni programming adviser to the Chi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. among many other pursuits. 


Samantha Pierre

Vice President

 

Samantha Pierre is the Online Marketing Manager at CFY, a national education nonprofit that leverages the power of technology to improve academic outcomes. Prior to CFY, she developed online marketing strategies for several New York City- and Boston-based nonprofit organizations.  Samantha graduated cum laude from Harvard College in 2008 with an A.B. in Social Anthropology and a citation in French. Prior to becoming the Vice President of the Harvard Black Alumni Society of New York, Samantha served as the chapter's Community Service Chair.


Akilah Crichlow

Secretary and Treasurer

 

Graduated from Harvard College, where she concentrated in Economics, in 2010.  As a New York native, she returned to her hometown and joined the Teach For America New York Corps after graduating.  Akilah currently works at Credit Suisse. 


Jonathan Mason

Social Events Chair

 

Jonathan born and raised in Prince George's County, Maryland. At Harvard, he studied Sociology with a secondary in AAAS, and was a member of the Harvard Crimson Football Team. He works as a Special Situations Equity Trader at JPM.


Bilal Belardo

Professional Development Chair

 

A graduate of the Class of 2008, Bilal has worked as a stock trader, financial analyst, and as a Director of Education. As a fan of social enterprise, Bilal has recently transitioned into focusing on creating ventures that promote social impact on top of economic gain.
